ISLANDERS (13-11-3) at RED WINGS (13-12-4)
7 p.m. ET; FS-D, MSG+, NHL.TV
The Detroit Red Wings will try to avoid another third-period collapse when they play the New York Islanders at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday.
The Red Wings gave up a 5-3 lead in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, then had to score in overtime on Thursday against the Toronto Maple Leafs to win 5-4 after they couldn’t hold a 4-1 lead in the third period. Jonathan Bernier, who got the win against Toronto, will start consecutive games for the first time this season.
The Islanders have lost four of their past five (1-3-1), scoring two goals or fewer in four of the five games. Forward Anders Lee has scored goals in each of his past four games, but center Mathew Barzal has been held to one assist in his past five.
Players to watch
Islanders forward Josh Bailey, who is tied with Lee for the team lead with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists), has one assist in his past five games. He needs one point to reach 400 in his NHL career.
Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist has 10 points (five goals, five assists) in his past six games. He is tied for the team lead in scoring with 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists).
