It’s 2019, with the turning of the calendar here’s five bold suggestions for what could take place in the second half of the 2018-19 season.
What a season the New York Islanders are having right now. They aren’t at the top of the league or at the top of the division, or even in a playoff spot right now. But they aren’t far off and no one was prepared for that in October.
With 39 games played the Islanders hold a 22-13-4 record for 48 points. They’re a single point back of the Montreal Canadiens with two games in hand for the last wildcard and a single point back of the Columbus Blue Jackets for third in the Metropolitan.

It’s not to say that all of these, or any, will happen. Because they’re rather outlandish propositions. But it’s entirely possible that at least one of these propositions comes true by July.
